I'm watching the weather forecast. Can we please move into spring? Apparently, not yet. The weather map has, as the commentator said, "A full spectrum of color". We have a Winter Weather Advisory for tomorrow, but the local weather person doesn't think it will affect us locally. I hope not; I am driving to Rochester tomorrow. On the other hand, we have a blast of cold air heading this way. Oh joy. Enough.
I've made the official decision . . . I'm not keeping bees next season. I sent email to a list of local beekeepers offering my equipment for sale, and I've already received several inquiries. One is from a couple who is interested in getting into the hobby beekeeping business; maybe I can ease the pain of acquiring equipment. The only thing that bothers me is knowing for sure that there's no disease in my equipment; I'd hate to ruin their first experience in beekeeping by providing infected woodenware.
And the last "moving on" comment . . . can we perhaps get past the idea that Obama received a good deal on his home mortgage? The Washington Times reported, yet again, that the Federal Election Commission doesn't think that Northern Trust's decision to give him a mortgage at 5.625% was A Terrible Evil Illegal Horrible Thing. Come on folks. Get past it. Sure, it's a better rate than I could have obtained, but I'm not a potential Super Rich Client that needs to be courted. Give the management of Northern Trust some credit for knowing how to do business with their target clientele; they've got more than a hundred years of evidence to show that they know what they're doing. Pick on the financial institutions that are teetering on the brink of bankruptcy (or are actually zombie companies) and reward the ones who have demonstrated that they know what they're doing.

5.625%? Not really out of line, and I am not an Obama fan. My rate is 5.85% from Citi, and I have no connections; at that time I could have done better if I was not so lazy. Citi approached me about the refi of the existing mortage that I had with them, and they made it easy with no fees, so I stayed with them. That may be part of the reason they are broke.
For a Chicago based politician, I am surprised Obama's rate was so high. Must have been a jumbo loan. This again just shows Obama's lack of experience. An EXPERIENCED Chicago base pol would have gotten it at 4%.
I now see that it was a super jumbo loan.
Interesting, but it still shows Obama was only a Chicago politician in training. Blago would have gotten a much better deal on the rate, and half the loan would have been forgiven.
IMHO I don't smell much wrong on this one.
